Dilworth Real Estate
Residential areas molded and grown from the use of streetcar lines are called streetcar suburbs, and that’s exactly how Dilworth became one of the few “in-town” neighborhoods that Charlotte has to offer. Sitting directly south of Uptown Charlotte, Dilworth offers easy access to South End (6 minutes), Midtown (2 minutes), and Bank of America Stadium (2 minutes). The streetcar suburb is close to modern-day transportation as well, an easy seven miles from Charlotte Douglas International Airport, and minutes from I-77, 277, and I-85.
An extremely walkable area, the residents of Dilworth find it easy to spend their days outside exercising and enjoying nature. Latta Park, a 32-acre area in the heart of Dilworth, offers both a playground and spray-ground, picnic areas, and walking trails. For those looking to get out and get active, the park also offers basketball, volleyball, and tennis courts, along with multiple soccer fields. Freedom Park, one of the largest parks in Charlotte at 98 acres, is also situated in Dilworth. The park offers multiple baseball and soccer fields, a full-court basketball court, two playgrounds, an NFL Play60KidZone, and multiple walking trails, including a connection to the Little Sugar Creek Greenway. Every year, Freedom Park is host to Festival in the Park, a Charlotte tradition for more than 50 years. Many residents participate, taking in nearly 1,000 entertainers and hundreds of artists every September. More information about the festival, along with other activities, can be found on the park’s Facebook page.
Dilworth is an easy place to get up and get active, as the Dowd YMCA (often referred to as Dowd Y hosts plenty of area runs, walks, and benefits. Additionally, Dilworth offers activities such as the Thunder Road Marathon and Conquer the Canker annually.
Dilworth is also home to noteworthy schools and medical care; schools nearby are Dilworth Elementary, Saint Patrick’s School, and Charlotte Montessori School. Carolinas Medical Center, one of the two large area hospitals, is located between Dilworth and Myers Park, and its placement on the Greenway between Uptown and Park Road Shopping Center provides an exceptional outlet for those visiting or working at the hospital.
As an “in-town” neighborhood, Dilworth has no shortage of shopping or dining, as both East and South Boulevards offer a myriad of options. The famed Dilworth Neighborhood Grille, having been bestowed the Certificate of Excellence by TripAdvisor, is a must-try, and shops such as Paper Skyscraper and Berrybrook Farm give the area an individualized feel. The annual Jubilee, Kings Drive Farmers Market, yearly Greek Festival, holiday street parties, and seasonal pop-ups such as pumpkin patches and Christmas tree lots enrich Dilworth’s personality as well. The neighborhood has something for everyone; get to know it better here.
